Free, Live Concert In Castlewood

Mark Cormican will be performing at a free concert to benefit Friends of Castlewood Canyon State Park (Friends), donations gratefully accepted. The venue will be the Pikes Peak Amphitheater looking down a broad valley to Pikes Peak. This happening will be on Saturday, June 24 at 6:30 p.m.

For the past 35 years, Mark Cormican has blessed audiences with his singing, song-writing and his genuinely sincere tribute to the late John Denver. Like John Denver, Mark has a way of relating to people with his own original music . . . communicating through song, his love for the people and places he holds most dear.  With this winning combination, Mark Cormican weave together a magical tapestry of music that audiences will remember for years to come.

The Pikes Peak Amphitheater (PPA) has a spectacular view however rather rustic, seating is on log benches. If you come for this delightful experience you may wish to bring a cushion or camping chair. In case of foul weather the concert will be held in EFS #3. The view is good and a little drier. The PPA is about ¼ mile from the Canyon Point Parking Lot on a soft surface trail.
All proceeds go to supporting Castlewood Canyon State Park. An example is in 2014 Friends donated $30,000 toward the acquisition of the Klienert homestead. This year Friends has provided new chairs for the visitor center classroom replacing chairs that were purchased in 1993. Last month the first new interpretative sign was installed at the native garden. An on-going project is funding transportation for underserved school kids to come to the park for interpretive programs. Stop by the visitor center and see what Friends has done to the enhancement of the native garden and visitor center.
